Today my mother wished me a happy Nowruz, which is apparently on the vernal equinox, first official day of spring. She likes those sorts of things; we used to throw winter solstice parties instead of standard Christmas parties.
Mom also tells me that our president has wished the people of Iran a happy Nowruz today. Here’s the video message he taped for them:
I’m still astonished that we have a wise, articulate, open-minded leader. His message of new beginnings could be compelling if people are willing to hear it. Let’s hope they are. We need a do-over.
So Happy Nowruz, everyone.
